Hyperloop

Hyperloop systems may eventually be suitable for containerized freight transport. For passenger transportation, however, hyperloops are considered highly critical due to significant safety issues and maintenance-intensive technical requirements. Many maglev experts reject hyperloop for passenger transportation.

As more maglev systems are deployed, experts expect the cost of building hyperloop infrastructure to drop due to new construction methods and economies of scale. But even if the infrastructure costs can be covered and the safety issues can be resolved, there is still no operational concept that appears to make economic sense. This can be seen as the main reason for the rejection of Hyperloop projects by many transportation researchers.
